Ingredients

  • 1 lb mild Italian sausage
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cracked black pepper
  • 2 tsp Italian herb blend
  • 1 1/2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 cans 14.5 oz beef broth
  • 24 oz pasta sauce
  • 24 oz water
  • 1 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 4 to 5 oz fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

Method

  1. Brown Italian sausage and ground beef with onion and garlic.
  2. Add salt, pepper, Italian herbs, and tomato paste; cook briefly.
  3. Pour in beef broth, pasta sauce, and water; stir well.
  4. Add sugar and bring soup to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer until flavors meld.
  6. Stir in heavy cream and season to taste.
  7. Serve soup garnished with ricotta, mozzarella, parsley, and parmesan.
