Ingredients

  • 3 lb / 1.4 kg potatoes (about 5-6 large)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp sour cream or crème fraîche, at room temperature
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • Pinch of ground nutmeg
  • Chives (optional)

Method

  1. Peel and boil potatoes until tender.
  2. Mash potatoes with butter, garlic, sour cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
