Ingredients

  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 can (5 oz / 140 g drained) tuna in water
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced into thin rings
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced into thin rings
  • 1 small red onion
  • 2.5 oz (70 g) olives
  • 10.6 oz (300 g) canned chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh dill
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tbsp mustard
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Sharp knife

Method

  1. Slice the cucumber into thin rounds, sprinkle with salt, and let it sit for a few minutes to release excess moisture.
  2. Drain the tuna well.
  3. Chop the tomatoes.
  4. Slice the green and red bell peppers into thin rings.
  5. Finely slice the red onion.
  6. Slice the olives, some lengthwise and some crosswise for texture.
  7. Squeeze excess liquid from the cucumber and place it in a large bowl.
  8. Add the tuna, tomatoes, peppers, onion, olives, chickpeas, and dill.
  9. In a small bowl, whisk together the lemon juice, olive oil, mustard, garlic, salt, and black pepper.
  10. Pour the dressing over the salad and mix well.
  11. Refrigerate for 10 minutes before serving if desired.

  • Salt the cucumber briefly and squeeze out excess moisture.
  • Drain the tuna and chickpeas well before mixing.
  • Add the dressing shortly before serving for the freshest texture.

Storage

Keep the salad covered in the refrigerator and serve chilled.
