Whole recipe (12 servings): 1800 kcal

  • 4 cups (32 oz) orange juice, chilled
  • 4 cups (32 oz) ginger ale, chilled
  • 1 quart (4 cups) orange sherbet, slightly softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 12 gummy worms (optional, for garnish)

Method

5 steps
  1. In a large punch bowl, combine the chilled orange juice, ginger ale, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Stir gently to mix.
  2. Add the orange sherbet to the punch bowl in large scoops. It will slowly melt and create a creamy, frothy texture.
  3. Stir gently to partially blend the sherbet into the liquid, leaving some chunks for visual appeal.
  4. If desired, garnish with gummy worms by draping them over the edge of the bowl or floating them on top.
  5. Refrigerate the punch for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the sherbet to soften further. Serve cold in punch cups or glasses.

Recipe notes

Helpful tips

  • For a more intense spice flavor, add the spices to the orange juice and let it steep for 30 minutes before mixing with ginger ale.
  • Use a melon baller to create small sherbet balls for a prettier presentation.
  • To keep the punch cold without diluting, freeze some orange juice into ice cubes and add them to the bowl.

Equipment

  • Large punch bowl
  • Ladle
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Stirring spoon

Storage

Store any leftover punch in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. The sherbet will continue to melt; stir before serving.

Additional tips

  • Always check for food allergies. Gummy worms may pose a choking hazard for young children. This punch is non-alcoholic; do not add alcohol if serving to children.
