Whole recipe (8 servings): 1520 kcal
- 220 g white bread, crusts removed
- 3 large brown or yellow onions, peeled, sliced, and diced
- 3 cloves garlic, sliced
- 12 sage leaves, roughly chopped
- 5 g flat leaf parsley, chopped
- 100 g unsalted butter
- salt
- pepper
Method
7 steps- Place the 220 g of white bread into a blender and blend into coarse breadcrumbs. If no blender, do this by hand.
- Remove the top of the 3 large onions, leaving the root intact. Peel, slice, and dice into small to medium pieces, trimming excess flesh around the root.
- Place a large pan over medium-high heat, add 100 g of unsalted butter, and allow it to melt.
- Add the diced onions to the pan and cook for about 5 to 6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they develop flavor and color. Season with salt and pepper.
- Add the sliced garlic, chopped sage, chopped parsley, and bread crumbs to the pan. Mix and cook for 1 to 2 minutes to absorb flavors.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased small roasting pan (about 20 cm in length), spreading it out evenly.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for roughly 30 minutes, until the top is golden and crispy.
