Ingredients
- 125 ml black treacle
- 125 ml golden syrup or honey
- 450 g dark soft brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 225 ml hot water
Method
- Add 450 g of dark soft brown sugar, 125 ml of black treacle, 125 ml of honey, 1 teaspoon of butter, and 225 ml of hot water into a pan.
- Mix the ingredients together until the sugar and treacle are evenly combined and the butter begins to melt.
- Place the pan on low heat and gradually warm the mixture, stirring constantly.
- Bring the mixture to the boil, stirring continuously, until it reaches 270°F (140°C) or until it thickens and turns a dark color (approximate by eye).
- Pour the hot mixture onto a lined container or tray, spreading evenly.
- Allow the toffee to cool and set overnight or in the fridge to speed up the process.
