  • 1 sliced chicken breast
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp MSG
  • 1/6 tsp bicarbonate of soda (Bicarb)
  • 1/3 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp potato starch
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil
  • 7 chopped spring onions (halved)
  • 1/2 finely chopped onion
  • 35 g sliced ginger
  • 1/3 tsp salt
  • 1/3 tsp MSG
  • 2 tsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil

Method

  1. 1

    Combine chicken breast, salt, MSG, bicarbonate of soda, garlic powder, light soy sauce, and vegetable oil in a bowl, mix well, and refrigerate for 20 minutes.

    Heat a large pan over high heat and add the vegetable oil.

    Add the marinated chicken to the hot oil and brown the chicken.

    Add sliced ginger and onion to the pan and fry until the onion chars.

    Stir in the additional salt, MSG, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and sugar. Cook until the liquid evaporates.

    Finally, add the spring onions and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
