- 450 g lean ground beef
- 1 large potato, approximately 300 g
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp dried or fresh dill, optional
- 2 tbsp olive oil or other neutral oil, for frying
Method
- Peel the potato and grate it coarsely.
- Place the grated potato in a clean tea towel or several layers of kitchen paper.
- Squeeze firmly to remove as much excess moisture as possible.
- Transfer the potato to a large bowl.
- Add the ground beef, salt, black pepper and optional dill.
- Mix gently until evenly combined.
- Divide the mixture into eight equal portions.
- Shape each portion into a thin patty.
- Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.
- Add half of the patties.
- Cook for 3–4 minutes on each side, until browned and completely cooked through.
- Transfer to a plate and repeat with the remaining oil and patties.
- Check that the centres have reached at least 75°C.
- Serve immediately while hot.
