- 1 head cabbage
- 500 g ground beef
- 1 egg
- 80 g rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 carrots, grated
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 100 g bacon, diced
- 1 spring onion, sliced
- 1 tomato, diced
- 200 g additional cabbage, shredded
- 3 tbsp tomato sauce
- 1 bunch parsley, chopped
- 3 tbsp yogurt
- 1 tbsp plain flour
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Separate the cabbage leaves carefully.
- Bring a large saucepan of salted water to the boil.
- Boil the cabbage leaves until softened and flexible.
- Drain and leave them to cool.
- Combine the ground beef, egg and rice in a large bowl.
- Add the onion, carrot and garlic.
- Season with salt and black pepper.
- Cook the bacon in a frying pan until lightly browned.
- Add the bacon to the ground beef mixture.
- Stir in the spring onion, tomato, shredded cabbage and parsley.
- Place a portion of filling onto each cabbage leaf.
- Fold in the sides and roll tightly.
- Arrange the cabbage rolls in a baking dish.
- Mix the tomato sauce, yogurt and flour until smooth.
- Spoon the sauce over the cabbage rolls.
- Bake for approximately 30 minutes.
- Check that the filling is fully cooked.
- Season to taste and serve warm.
