- 400 gr flour type 400
- 1 dry yeast
- 280 gr softened butter or margarine
- 1 whole egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 60 gr sugar
- 400 gr ground walnuts
- 2 tbsp honey
- 130 gr sugar
- 200 ml hot milk
- 1 egg for glazing
- lemon zest
- a little nutmeg
- apricot jam or marmalade
- powdered sugar
Method
- Mix flour and dry yeast.
- Add softened butter, whole egg, egg yolk, and sugar.
- Knead the dough and let it rest.
- Mix ground walnuts, honey, sugar, lemon zest, and nutmeg.
- Gradually add hot milk to the walnut mixture until it becomes thick.
- Roll out the dough and spread it with jam or marmalade.
- Distribute the walnut filling over the dough.
- Roll the dough into a strudel and brush it with egg.
- Bake at 180°C for about 40 minutes.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
