Ingredients
- 7-8 lb beef brisket
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 TBSP seasoning salt (or salt free seasoning)
- 2 TBSP onion powder
- 2 TBSP garlic powder
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp ground cayenne pepper
- 1 TBSP parsley flakes
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp liquid smoke
Method
- Mix 1/2 cup light brown sugar, 1 TBSP seasoning salt, 2 TBSP onion powder, 2 TBSP garlic powder, 1 tsp ground black pepper, 1 tsp ground cayenne pepper, and 1 TBSP parsley flakes to make a dry rub.
- Drizzle 2 tbsp olive oil and 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar into the dry rub and mix until it resembles a paste to make a wet rub.
- Paint the brisket with the wet rub, covering all sides, leaving the fat layer on top.
- Place the brisket in a 6-quart slow cooker, fat side up, and pour any remaining wet rub over it.
- Cover and cook on low for 12 hours, preferably overnight.
- After cooking, transfer the brisket to a foil-lined cookie sheet.
- Place the brisket under the broiler until the bark darkens and crisps, about 5 minutes.
- Cover the brisket and let it rest for some time.
- Slice and serve the brisket, optionally storing leftovers with some of the cooking liquid to prevent drying out.
