Ingredients

11 ingredients
  • 7-8 lb beef brisket
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 TBSP seasoning salt (or salt free seasoning)
  • 2 TBSP onion powder
  • 2 TBSP garlic powder
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp ground cayenne pepper
  • 1 TBSP parsley flakes
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp liquid smoke

Method

9 steps
  1. Mix 1/2 cup light brown sugar, 1 TBSP seasoning salt, 2 TBSP onion powder, 2 TBSP garlic powder, 1 tsp ground black pepper, 1 tsp ground cayenne pepper, and 1 TBSP parsley flakes to make a dry rub.
  2. Drizzle 2 tbsp olive oil and 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar into the dry rub and mix until it resembles a paste to make a wet rub.
  3. Paint the brisket with the wet rub, covering all sides, leaving the fat layer on top.
  4. Place the brisket in a 6-quart slow cooker, fat side up, and pour any remaining wet rub over it.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 12 hours, preferably overnight.
  6. After cooking, transfer the brisket to a foil-lined cookie sheet.
  7. Place the brisket under the broiler until the bark darkens and crisps, about 5 minutes.
  8. Cover the brisket and let it rest for some time.
  9. Slice and serve the brisket, optionally storing leftovers with some of the cooking liquid to prevent drying out.
