  • spaghetti, enough for 4 servings
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large carrot, grated
  • 2 celery stalks, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 2 beef stock cubes or equivalent beef bouillon
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • oregano, to taste
  • salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 800 g canned chopped tomatoes
  • Parmesan cheese, grated, to serve

Method

8 steps
  1. Chop the onion, carrots, and celery into fine dice (brunoise).
  2. Sauté the vegetables in olive oil with some garlic until the onions become soft and translucent.
  3. Add ground beef or turkey to the pan and stir until browned.
  4. Stir in a little flour to help bring the dish together.
  5. Add a stock cube, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, and black pepper.
  6. Add diced tomatoes to the mixture.
  7. Simmer the sauce on low heat for about 35 minutes, covered.
  8. Serve over cooked spaghetti and finish with shredded Parmesan cheese.
