Ingredients

  • 3 (16.3-ounce) package refrigerated buttermilk biscuit dough
  • 1 cup granulated sugar ((200g))
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup unsalted butter ((226g))
  • ¾ cup packed light brown sugar ((165g))

Method

  1. Prepare the dough by combining 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, yeast, and salt in a stand mixer.
  2. Make a well in the dry ingredients and add in whisked eggs, melted butter, and warm milk (110°F).
  3. Mix with a dough hook on low, then medium low for about 15 minutes until the dough is sticky but not coming off on your finger.
  4. Transfer dough into an oiled bowl, cover with plastic, and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough, then tear into small pieces, roll each into a ball, and coat in cinnamon sugar.
  6. Layer the coated dough balls in a greased bundt pan, dot with small pieces of butter between layers.
  7. Let the layered dough rise for 15-20 minutes.
  8. Make the brown sugar butter topping by melting 1/2 cup butter with 2/3 cup packed brown sugar over medium low heat until simmering.
  9. Pour the brown sugar butter mixture over the layered dough in the bundt pan.
  10. Bake at 350°F for about 35 minutes until golden brown and firm to the touch.
  11. Invert the baked monkey bread onto a cake plate and serve.
