10 ingredients- 2 cups All Purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons Baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 cup Butter (melted)
- 3/4 cup Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 1 cup Buttermilk
- 1 cup Dark Chocolate chips
Method
8 steps- Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C). Place rack in center of oven. Line standard muffin pan with paper liners.
- In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, melted butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Sift in the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
- Add chocolate chips and mix.
- Divide the batter into the 12 muffin cups. Sprinkle some chocolate chips on top of each muffin.
- Bake at 425°F (218°C) for 5 minutes, then reduce oven temperature to 350°F (180°C) and continue to bake for 15-18 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean with a few crumbs or melted chocolate.
- Allow to cool for 10 minutes in the pan before serving.
Recipe notes
Helpful tips
- Start the muffins at the higher oven temperature to encourage taller tops.
- Reduce the oven temperature without removing the muffins.
- Mix only until the flour is incorporated.
- Cool in the tin for 10 minutes before transferring.
