Ingredients
- 2 cups warm water ((105 to 110°F) (480ml))
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 (0.25-ounce/7g) packets active dry yeast
- 6 cups all-purpose flour ((720g))
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted (56g))
- 2 teaspoons salt
Method
- In a bowl of a stand mixer, add 2 cups of warm water (about 110 to 120°F).
- Add 2 tablespoons of sugar and 2 packets of active dry yeast to the water. Stir and set aside for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a separate bowl, measure out 6 cups of flour and add 2 teaspoons of salt. Mix well.
- Add the flour mixture and 4 tablespoons of melted butter to the yeast mixture. Mix on low speed until it forms a shaggy dough.
- Knead the dough until it develops some structure, either by hand or with a dough hook, until smooth and elastic.
- Shape the dough into a rectangle, then roll into a tight log. Pinch seams tightly and tuck the ends underneath.
- Place the dough into a greased loaf pan, seam side down. Cover and let rise for 25-30 minutes until it just pokes above the top of the pan.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Optional: Brush the top of the loaves with melted butter before baking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes until golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
