Method

14 steps
  1. For the base recipe, add the rolled oats, milk, Greek yogurt, maple syrup or honey, vanilla and optional chia seeds to a blender.
  2. Blend until completely smooth and creamy.
  3. Pour into an 8-ounce jar or other covered container.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight, until thickened.
  5. Stir before serving. If the oats are too thick, loosen them with a splash of milk.
  6. Add fresh fruit, crunchy toppings or other mix-ins immediately before serving for the best texture.
  7. For strawberry banana oats, add the strawberries and banana to the base ingredients before blending. Chill, then top with sliced strawberries, banana and almonds.
  8. For peaches and cream oats, blend the peaches first. Reserve a few spoonfuls of peach puree for topping, then add the base ingredients and cinnamon to the remaining puree and blend. Chill and top with the reserved puree, sliced peaches, pecans and coconut.
  9. For blueberry almond oats, add the blueberries, lemon zest and almond extract to the base ingredients before blending. Chill and top with blueberry jam, almonds and fresh blueberries.
  10. For carrot cake oats, add the grated carrot, cinnamon and nutmeg to the base ingredients before blending. Chill, stir in raisins and top with walnuts or pecans, shredded carrot and extra spice.
  11. For mint chocolate oats, add the cocoa powder, protein powder, peppermint extract and salt to the base ingredients before blending. Chill, then stir in mint chocolate chips and top with walnuts and coconut.
  12. For Earl Grey oats, steep the tea bag in the hot water for 3–5 minutes and allow the tea to cool. Blend it with the oats, 3 tablespoons milk, Greek yogurt, maple syrup, vanilla and chia seeds. Chill and top with almonds, dark chocolate and orange zest.
  13. For four meal-prep servings, blend 2 cups rolled oats, 2 cups milk, 1 cup Greek yogurt, 3–4 tablespoons maple syrup, 2 teaspoons vanilla and 1–2 tablespoons chia seeds. Divide between four jars.
  14. Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 4–5 days.
