  • 250 g dates (pitted)
  • 50 g prunes (pitted)
  • 50 g cocoa powder (about 5 tbsp)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 70 g butter, melted
  • 60 g hot water
  • 60 g hazelnuts
  • 100 g dark chocolate
  • 20 g vegetable oil

Method

  1. Remove the pits from the dates and prunes if necessary.
  2. Add the dates, prunes, cocoa powder and salt to a blender or food processor.
  3. Pour in the melted butter and hot water.
  4. Blend until the mixture is smooth and holds together.
  5. Chill or freeze the mixture for 10–15 minutes if it is too soft to shape.
  6. Roll the mixture into 16 balls, placing one whole hazelnut inside each.
  7. Melt the dark chocolate in short microwave intervals.
  8. Stir the vegetable oil and the remaining chopped hazelnuts into the melted chocolate.
  9. Dip each candy into the chocolate coating.
  10. Place the coated candies on parchment paper.
  11. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes, or until completely set.
