  • 1 pound 80/20 ground beef
  • 1 onion (diced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
  • 1 bell pepper (chopped)
  • salt (to taste)
  • pepper (to taste)
  • smoked paprika (to taste)
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • fresh parsley (finely chopped)
  • chili flakes (to taste, optional)
  • 2-3 large potatoes (cubed)
  • butter (to taste)
  • salt (to taste, for mashing)
  • ground black pepper (to taste, for mashing)
  • sour cream (optional)
  • heavy cream (optional)
  • Parmesan cheese (grated, to taste)
  • cheddar cheese (for topping)
  • mozzarella cheese (for topping)

Method

    In a skillet, cook the ground beef and drain excess oil.

    Add diced onions and cook until translucent.

    Add finely chopped garlic and toast until fragrant.

    Stir in chopped bell peppers and continue cooking for 3-4 minutes.

    Add a pinch of salt, pepper, and smoked paprika, then mix well.

    Introduce ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar; mix thoroughly.

    Let the mixture simmer for about 2 minutes, adding finely chopped parsley and chili flakes (if desired).

    Boil water with salt and add cubed potatoes; cook for about 20 minutes until tender.

    Drain potatoes, mash them, and mix in butter, salt, black pepper, sour cream or heavy cream, and grated Parmesan cheese.

    Spread the mashed potatoes over the sloppy joe mixture in the skillet.

    Top with cheddar and mozzarella cheese.

    Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until cheese is melted and edges are crispy.
