  • 2 eggs
  • 2 slices of ham
  • 0.5 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 tbsp chopped and seeded tomato
  • 2 chopped or sliced mushrooms
  • 1 tbsp chunky salsa

Method

11 steps
  1. Add two eggs into a large resealable freezer bag.
  2. Press out most of the air from the bag and seal.
  3. Shake or squeeze the bag to beat the eggs.
  4. Open the bag and add in your favorite omelet ingredients: ham, cheese, onion, bell pepper, tomato, mushrooms, and salsa.
  5. Squeeze out the air and seal the bag again.
  6. Gently turn the bag to incorporate the ingredients.
  7. Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
  8. Place the freezer bag in the boiling water.
  9. Cook for 13 minutes.
  10. Carefully open the bag and roll the omelet out onto a plate.
  11. If the omelet mixture is high in water content, cook for a few more minutes and drain excess liquid before serving.

Helpful tips

  • Use only a freezer bag explicitly suitable for boiling or sous-vide-style cooking.
  • Press out most of the air before sealing.
  • Use lower-moisture fillings to avoid excess liquid.
  • Cook longer if the centre remains loose.
