Ingredients

5 ingredients
  • 1 medium apple, cored and chopped, approximately 180 g prepared weight
  • 1 medium banana, peeled, approximately 118 g
  • 1 medium kiwi, peeled, approximately 75 g
  • 1 teaspoon honey, approximately 7 g
  • 250 g plain whole-milk yogurt

Method

8 steps
  1. Wash, core and chop the apple. Leave the peel on for additional fibre or remove it for a smoother drink.
  2. Peel and slice the banana.
  3. Peel and chop the kiwi.
  4. Place the apple, banana and kiwi in a blender.
  5. Add the honey and plain yogurt.
  6. Blend until completely smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides if necessary.
  7. If the smoothie is thicker than preferred, blend in a small amount of cold water.
  8. Divide evenly between two glasses and serve immediately.

Recipe notes

Helpful tips

  • Use ripe fruit for a naturally sweeter smoothie.
  • Taste before adding the honey because ripe banana may provide enough sweetness.
  • Chill the fruit and yogurt before blending if serving immediately.
  • Add cold water 1 tablespoon at a time if the smoothie is too thick.

Equipment

  • Knife
  • Chopping board
  • Blender
  • Kitchen scale

Storage

Serve immediately for the best colour and texture. If necessary, refrigerate in a sealed container for up to 24 hours and stir or shake thoroughly before drinking.

Additional tips

  • Contains milk unless a dairy-free yogurt is used. Honey should not be given to children under 12 months. Take care when using the blender and never insert utensils while its blades are moving.
